It's another chore day, which means kombucha processing (as well as dishes, laundry, and ttrpg podcast tasks). Watermelon was included in the recent rescued produce pickup, so that's the flavor for the second fermentations I set up today. Spent a bit of time with my potato masher and the wedges of watermelon.

Today was another kombucha processing day. The apple butter worked well as a second fermentation flavor last time, so this time I'm trying a bottle with pumpkin butter. The other two flavors I did last time were surprisingly even more delicious. I don't have oranges on hand anymore, but it is prime lemon season here, so I have once again done some bottles with honey, lemon zest, and lemon juice.

Another #kombucha processing day, prepping some for its second #fermentation and getting another batch going for the first. The lemon zest with honey worked well last time, so I set one second ferment with that again. I did another with the zest and juice of an orange. For the third, I used the remnants of a jar of apple butter for the flavoring. We'll see how they all turn out this weekend.

Today was #kombucha processing day. I make my kombucha in a half-gallon pickle jar. (It was cheaper to buy and eat a giant pile of pickles than to buy a big glass.) I rebottled it into 3 half-liter mead bottles with lids that lock into place. Two of them I used berry juice for the second fermentation. The other I decided to experiment on: honey and lemon zest.

Bonjour #piaille !

New to the app, excited to be here! :)

To make this Limoncello Kombucha Fizz Mocktail you'll need:

- 1 ounce lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 ounce agave syrup
- 4 ounces lemon kombucha
- 1 cup sparkling water (can be lemon-infused, or non-alcoholic Prosecco)
- Lots of crushed ice, or ice cubes
- Lemon peel, lemon slices and thyme or mint sprigs for a refreshing garnish

1. Start by filling a tall glass with lots of crushed ice.
2. Mix lemon juice and agave syrup, then add to glass.
2. Slowly add the lemon kombucha and then top with sparkling water (or non-alcoholic Prosecco), giving it a gentle stir to combine.
3. Garnish: Twist a lemon peel over the drink to release its oils, or add a lemon slice and a sprig of thyme or mint for a fragrant garnish.
4. Serve and enjoy: Enjoy your refreshing Limoncello Kombucha Fizz mocktail!

Finally home after weeks away. Just started some seeds soaking for #sprouts. Set dried fruit bits in my #kombucha to revivify (wow that kombucha is way bubbly now!) Started waking up the #sourdough to make a loaf next week. And set the emergency #yogurt (made just before we left to use up the milk) to strain so that it's nice and thick for breakfast tomorrow. So good to be back in my own kitchen!

Just tried out a new compote #recipe that is simply rehydrating a mix of dried fruit in #kombucha (or cooled green tea/herbal tea). You cover the tiny pieces of fruit with the liquid in a glass jar and stick it in the fridge for a day. It worked out quite nicely and will ensure I have a mix of fruit topping for my yogurt or oatmeal breakfasts even out of season.

I might be the last person on earth to catch on but...

That old #Futurama episode where they find out that the delicious and addictive drink Slurm comes from a disgusting creature but still can't stop drinking it, is maybe a reference to #kombucha and the gross but somehow adorable SCOBY that produces it?

OMG 🤯
