"In an age of information overload & an increasingly commercialized web, #artists of all types are the people to help. Artists can think expansively about what a #website can be. Each #artist should create their own space on the web, for a website is an individual act of collective ambition." — Laurel Schwulst

One of the reason I like static websites is because of the low overhead on the server.

Also you don't have to back up the website because it's already on your computer. Just backup your computer.

And because of this static websites are very portable and can even be run on free hosts. Just be sure to use your own domain so when the free host goes squirelly you can move.

Blogs, audio, video, full websites all have static host solutions.

It feels good in the curent situation to be fully free of any proprietary solution.

Folks who #website: I'm trying to create a slice'n'dice-able #data #table -- somewhat like instances.vantage.sh/ with the per-column client-side search/constraint/etc. FWIW my data's a discrete JSON file.

I'm allergic to JavaScript insofar as I have zero idea what I'm doing with it (and *can't* do anything with it, myself) but will happily copy'n'paste it as needed.

Got any pointers? #websites #HTML #datadriven #javascript #js #webdev #WebDesign #WebDevelopment #dataviz

For some reason, years ago, we all agreed to spend most of our online time looking at photography on a canvas smaller than a cocktail napkin. It’s awful when you think about it: Thoughtful appreciation is the whole point of looking at photographs. And most of us cannot truly appreciate an image as it’s screaming by on a handheld social media newsfeed. It doesn’t help that […]

So I've been using my laptop with the wrong date for a while and #certificate errors meant I could only see #websites when the stars aligned.

This was the most productive I've been for a while.

So I decided to make this a #browser extension:

**Block selected websites, 90% of the time**

No more mindless scrolling! No more constant Wikipedia binges! Just occasional ones. It's fine to have fun once in a while.
