"As Singapore’s first and only UNESCO World Heritage Site—and the world’s only tropical botanical garden on the list—the Gardens stands as a treasured symbol of our City in Nature.

We’re also celebrating 150 years of the Singapore Herbarium and the Library of Botany and Horticulture, along with 30 years of the National Orchid Garden—cornerstones of the Gardens’ research, education and conservation work."

It's our wedding anniversary today - we do celebrate it a bit just not as much as our first proper date anniversary. We knew each other as part of a large group of mutual friends (several groups overlapping). And we we've been in a committed relationship since we were 22 but didn't choose to get married until we were 28. But our wedding anniversary is a nice one to celebrate nonetheless. He made croissants for breakfast this morning and is currently making a roast for dinner. I had things on so we'll do the special picnic lunch by the water tomorrow.

Born on this day 176 years ago, my 3 x great grandfather James Noulton. Blue-eyed and fair-haired with a fresh complexion, James was 4’ 10” tall with scars on his left leg and forehead. James was a bit of a rogue. In 1866, aged eighteen, he fell foul of the authorities and spent three months in Wandsworth Prison. His crime: he stole fifteen feet of lead.
