Brauche Hilfe bei #eDP-Kabeln:

Alle Buchsen haben 40 Pins bei 2,1 cm. Die des 1. Boards haben die Kontaktfläche scheinbar hinten direkt, die des zweiten hat nochmal Einzelbuchsen für die oberen Stecker. Die Display-Buchse ist metallisch.

Was zur Hölle kauft man da für ein Kabel?!

If anyone is working with a JetKVM and needs a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that works then this lower cost device seems to do the trick:

~£7 or so and seems to work with the test machine I have here (an HP Prodesk G4) which only offers Displayport output on the unit I have (an HDMI module for the HP is available).

You might come across USB issues with the HP Prodesk devices and the JetKVM but you can alter the USB HID setting for the JetKVM via the Settings -> Hardware -USB Devices section 😊

Not having a Grub boot menu to switch between Kubuntu and Windows 11 would probably help here 🤷‍♂️🤭

The KVM seems to be working in Windows 11 and Kubuntu.

Well, I should have thought of this before but the USB 4 ports on my new X870E mainboard do offer DisplayPort output from the AMD 7000 CPU onboard Radeon Graphics.

It's only Displayport 1.4 with HBR3, so a maximum of 4K 60Hz, but I'll take it. Working fine at 2K 144Hz. Two monitors now up and running.

In an surprising display (to coin a phrase) of forthought I even have the correct DP to USB C cable on hand!

Sometimes the odds really are in your favour 😊

Now to work out why the Nvidia GPU isn't working very well with Windows 11 and the correct drivers installed.

What's the deal with #Linux (specifically, #Debian) and #multimonitor setups (specifically, with #ThinkPad and #DisplayPort)?

I have an #X230Tablet with a monitor (VGA) and an e-ink screen (HDMI over DisplayPort) in addition to its in-built screen, but I can only use two of them at a time. The third one just remains blank, and whichever it is, only starts working when I disable one of the other two 🫣️

Is this a general thing or just a "me and my laptop" thing?

@hon1nbo @foone As a matter if fact, both #Valve and #cheaters are looking into that already as a means to [combat / do] #cheating in games, as a external machine that intercepts #HDMI / #DisplayPort & #USB could make "undetectable" cheats except if it's resulting in players to become too good to be true...

The next #thinkpad on my #workbench is a #W510 – it has an #eSATA port as well as multiple #USB3 ports, #expresscard, #displayport, #smartcard, memory card reader, #DVD/#CDRW, with a max 16GM of #DDR3 #RAM so it can run #Win11 (if you are careful) or #linux with ease. This will be a good replacement for my workbench laptop for testing and #wiping #HardDrives and #SSDs

But: the processor is only an i7-Q270 1.6 Ghz
This will be a dog with #Windoz

So I am researching which & where to get a #CPU upgrade.
According to #thinkwiki thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:W5 Some models came with an Intel Quad Core Extreme Processor i7-920XM (2.0GHz 1333MHz 8MB L3).

But wowzas the couple I found were expensive as all hell.

Any thoughts on
a) where to find one of these #CPUs at a reasonable cost; possibly locally in the SF bay area?
b) Is/are there other #CPUs that would work in the W510 motherboard that would provide more bang for the buck?
