soot stained ambition where war machines & Art Deco skyscrapers rise in tandem, fueled by oil sweat & unregulated industry. Governments playing chess with tanks, zeppelins blotting out the sky & men in trench coats smoking in the rain while jazz drowns out impending doom.

jimmy carter is a dieselpunk icon.

you might think, but he was navy, an officer, he was a nuclear engineer. but in my humble opinion, atomic-era reactors are also dieselpunk. the plumbing, the steam, the analog controls — and ultimately, yes, the slide-rule engineering required to barely harness industrial forces.
