Was a busy week of #gaming for us! We had #GameNight Culture Brewing Co , we had a random afternoon of #cardgames at a possible partner location AND a day just hanging with friends and big box #boardgames - whew!
We played:
Dracula Vs. Van Helsing from 25th Century Games
Hex Effects from Pillbox Games
Ninjan from Helvetiq
7 Wonders from Repos Productions
Tell us what you think of the games we played, or what games you played instead!
It's International Crow and Raven Appreciation Day!
Today, we celebrate our own friendly little raven, Blanche. She's always willing to make time for a game, teach you how to play, and share her treasures with you when you win.
Thanks for being awesome, Blanche.
"Initially intended as collectibles, the cards were turned into Pokemon-style trading cards at the urging of children who saw the competitive potential behind their disarmingly analogue pastime"
Spades is a fun trick-taking game, commonly for four players. But if you’re low on players, that’s no problem!
Blanche loves to spend an afternoon drafting, bidding, and taking tricks—all with just two players. See how it works: https://youtu.be/ZiXAz4gSwE4
Why do so many print-and-play card games use so much black that you're burning an entire toner cartridge?
Love it if Tin Helm or whatever had a "gray" version.
My child invited me a new card game. It's like "go fish", but when you don't have the requested card then you say "get stuffed".
It suddenly makes the game so much nicer.
Required a poker face. Opponent didn’t break out in a sweat when I cut. Didn’t mention the 5
Other player got this hand. Did not shriek or leap around. It’s only 14 points, but. It’s sooo close.
Later. Same game, I got 555X. With an 8 as starter. Also 14 points. I may have shrieked a little.
Playing bohnanza with the family. The cutest won by a mile of course...

It is done! 83 cards complete. Some kind of download / blog-post will come over the next few days. I'm going to get these printed as I've no idea how these will look physical and some adjustments might need to be made

Absolutely honoured to have received the "Best Analogue Game Runner Up" award for Battle of Tarot at the IMIRT Irish Game Awards this Friday at the FÍS Games Summit.
It means so much that this card game that came to me in a dream a couple years ago has actually grabbed people's attention.
If you haven't played it yet, you can download the ruleset for free at https://www.battleoftarot.com
Most TCGs have some "grouping" of cards, seperating gameplay styles (think colors in Magic, or classes in many digital games)
I'm experimenting with an "Affinity" system to handle that in my game:
If your character is bad at the type of magic your card represents, it becomes more expensive. Here, the character played excels at Element-based Magic, so this Physics-based spell is difficult and therefore incurs a +2 cost penalty #madewithgodot #screenshotsaturday #indiedev #cardgames
Do you know that Nintendo also sells Hanafuda? Flowers and plants representing the twelve months are painted on the cards.

Over the last week I have been writing rules/gameplay for a card game. Hoping to have the time to test the gameplay this weekend. If it plays as intended I'll post the game rules. It's a two player, 54 card, Bridge variant that has elements of Memory Bridge and German Whist.
I'm pretty excited, tbh.
