Yes, they did. Previously it had no allusion to there being any other method of voting. They also identify their advice is for people who are 'out of town' and unable to vote.
They do not, sadly, mention there are many other ways to vote if one will just be away from home on election day.
You can vote **today** using a Special Ballot proces at any open Elections Canada office. They are open 7 days a week. https://www.elections.ca/content.aspx?section=vot&dir=bkg&document=ec90540&lang=e
Or vote on Advance Polling days.
It once said _We will not be able to vote in person but will be voting by mail._ [imperfect memory; may be slightly off]
Indeed.
But that they edited at all is an improvement over most of the bots. Sadly, it may mean it's a live operator.
Or someone working for a contractor in a digital sweathouse operation.
The same is true of a person sharing disinformation.
But this information was not deliberately wrong. It is the same link on the Elections Canada website for mailing ballots.
It seems likely it is a more-subtle effort to cause people to mail ballots rather than participate in a safer, surer method of voting. But it could simply be someone sharing their situation, and affirming they will still vote.
And I have my elbows up for exactly the reasons you do!
No.
I **am** however carrying 20+ years of Wikimedia history, and "Assume Good Faith."
Totally agree with that.
But working to encourage volunteers, the vast majority of them are trying to help. A microscopic percentage of additions are intentionally malicious. If you attack someone for being mistaken, but who has screwed up the courage to make an edit, you may be destroying any chance that volunteer will be helpful in the future.
But if you attacked someone with ill intent, you have done nothing. You won't change them.
I am going to edit once more in an attempt to clarify further, but I think this conversation is borderline ridiculous.
@Snowshadow He is NOT a bot, I know him personally!! He tried to help by sharing information, he made an honest mistake! You may not seen the edited post on from your instance but I can see it!
@Snowshadow And what? HE MADE A MISTAKE! English is not his first language, same for me! Can you cut him some slack for god’s sake!! You are really not helping!
This is mastodon; we can temporarily mute each other to avoid giving strong offense, or we can make it permanent, even a block.
And we should do that **before** we are unkind to each other.
---
I understand.
@Snowshadow That's interesting that you mention someone jumped on you, because that's exactly what you did. Please, stay calm and kind on social networks. It's okay to point out a confusing message that can unwillingly misinform. But calmly, please.
You want misinformation to stay on Twitter, we all do. But we also want that violent attitude to stay on Twitter. Everyone's experience here will be better, including yours.
@pierrelucdaoust That person was asked nicely before me. I did not mention violence. I repeatedly asked and was told it had been edited. It still was obviously misleading. The message remained the same. We have had problems with foreign political interference. I am sorry but if you cannot see the severity of the situation, that is your issue not mine.
@Snowshadow It doesn't allow you to be as aggressive as you were. That's the verbal violence I'm referring to. Kindness is also a way to ask people to correct a mistake, and it's even more efficient. You should give it a try. You'll see, it feels good.
@pierrelucdaoust Thank you. But if you think capital letters is violence I am sorry... Also, you might want to talk with a few of your people..
@pierrelucdaoust Also you might want to take the time to go through my account before you start throwing accusations.
@Amgine C’est à moi que tu dis ça?
Je dis quelque chose dans un fil, donc à tous ceux qui le lisent.

I am saying something in a thread, so to everyone who is reading it.
@Amgine Laisse faire, j’ai bloqué l’autre personne qui me suivait pourtant.
