After using daily sway-wm (#Wayland) for years, I went back i3-wm (#xorg) for about a week, and I miss Wayland so much. For example on Firefox the scroll is so rough (even scrolling just the tab bar is awful!), while on sway was silk smooth.

In case you are wondering, I am back to i3-wm because of #KiCAD, that officially does not support Wayland, and I can confirm it has several nasty problems.

While #KiCad doesn't yet have an API for live schematics edition, I added properties for when it's there, so we can live-update the component values someday.

anyone else here having problems with #KiCAD popping up modal windows that don't appear in your alt-tab window switcher or window overview so if they disappear behind another window you need to go chasing around for them?

One of the final modules for my #StackSynth project: the #noise generator. It outputs white, blue, and pink noise and uses a #3904 and a #TL074 with a lot of resistors and a couple of capacitors.
It is based on Moritz Klein's video: youtu.be/0yB_h_wFkh4
I prototyped it on solderless #breadboard and then designed the #PCB in @kicad and let @aislerhq manufacture them again. It turned out quite nice and sounds great.

Been doing a bunch of exploration of the kicad-python / #KiCAD v9 API. And while I'm still finding odd edge cases, for the most part I'm surprised how quickly I've replaced the core SWIG binding on a project I've been banging on for.... 5 years???? anyhow, with some tidying up and resolving one major bug I will be finally ready to release it..... maybe even today.

Baby steps in getting my Apple I reproduction PCB up and running. 6502 CPU booting with just RAM and ROM attached. It grabs the reset address from ROM and starts executing code...until it tries to do something with IO, which is not attached yet...

I'm monitoring the bus with an Arduino MEGA attached to my MacBook Pro.

Hey I'm gonna make a late New Years resolution

This year, I'm gonna figure out either #kicad and/or whatever else I need to sort out, so I can at the very least order PCBs from open hardware designs. Maybe design some simple stuff myself, I have a few devices I need to update around here that would be just fine if I could do them cheaper.

There are LOT of musical gadgets out there that from what I can tell I can get from a PCB place for ridiculously low prices, compared to a similar gadget in the shops, but I haven't done the several days/weeks/months of aggravation learning new software and concepts. It is painful.

@3dprinting Now the dehumidifier has a PCB. I don't use KiCad often enough to remember anything about it.

The board dimensions and placement of the barrel jack and ESP32 are compatible with Ben Krejci's design, for no good reason.

I'm going to think about it for a while before I send it off to fab.
