@gutenberg_org The #InternetArchive really needs to migrate out of the US before its too late.
@Seldon @gutenberg_org the library of Alexandria have a backup of the wayback machine (1996 - 2007), but making a full backup or moving the IA to a new location is nearly impossible, at least from my POV, as the IA store more than one hundred petabytes of data (212 petabytes in total in 2021). It would requires enormous investments of both money and time.

Easy or not, as long as you're on US soil, you're vulnerable to the whims of the federal government.
@blu4lyf No one is contradicting this fact, but I doubt they will ever move unless if threatened by heavy legal action, which will happen as soon as the government remove their protection against copyright strikes. they need to move, but they won't until the very last moment.

You need more than a tech guru and a few petabytes in his basement to make a fully functional backup of the internet archive.
