Ilkka Tengvall<p>Ok. <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/immich" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>immich</span></a> installed on rasperry pi 4 running <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/microshift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>microshift</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/k8s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>k8s</span></a>. Now what? Will raspi be beefy enough to run it? No GPU at least. Need to try how to use the external lib mounted to pod over nfs from nas. Redis and posgresql on the same raspi k8s.</p>
Ilkka Tengvall<p>I had the urge to nerd around a bit, and scratched it by putting <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/zigbee2mqtt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zigbee2mqtt</span></a> running on <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/microshift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>microshift</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/kubernetes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kubernetes</span></a> at home. It controls zigbee devices at home via <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> </p><p>The hard part was to understand how to get access to usb device. It was one liner after all, easy after you know it! Hint: Use generic device plugin. Here is the reference, if someone searches the same one day.</p><p><a href="https://github.com/ikke-t/zigbee2mqtt-microshift" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/ikke-t/zigbee2mqtt-</span><span class="invisible">microshift</span></a></p>
Markus Eisele<p>How to run MicroShift with OpenShift Local and Podman Desktop <br><a href="https://developers.redhat.com/articles/2025/03/27/how-run-microshift-openshift-local-and-podman-desktop" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">developers.redhat.com/articles</span><span class="invisible">/2025/03/27/how-run-microshift-openshift-local-and-podman-desktop</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/OpenShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenShift</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/microshift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>microshift</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/podmanDesktop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>podmanDesktop</span></a></p>
Ilkka Tengvall<p>Has someone figured out the scc magick to allow container in OpenShift/Microshift to get access to /dev/ttyACM0 usb device? As non root user.</p><p><a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/OpenShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenShift</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/MicroShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MicroShift</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/Zigbee2MQTT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zigbee2MQTT</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/kubernetes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kubernetes</span></a></p>
Ilkka Tengvall<p>Finally, home <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> 4 running RHEL9 and microshift. Took a while to figure out the working combo, as the 9.5 and 9.4 installer didn't boot further from EFI. The winning combo was to use 1.34 EFI and RHEL 9.3 installer. The RHEL can be updated after the install to 9.5. Just the newer installer doesn't work.</p><p><a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/kubernetes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kubernetes</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/OpenShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenShift</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/RHEL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RHEL</span></a> <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/MicroShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MicroShift</span></a></p>
MJ Ray<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://ieji.de/@oheso" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>oheso</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/@ai6yr" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ai6yr</span></a></span> I think I've test-ridden a <a href="https://masto.bike/tags/Microshift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microshift</span></a> bike. They are infinitely superior to the plastic spring hell of <a href="https://masto.bike/tags/Shimano" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Shimano</span></a> RapidFires or even the previous EZ-Fires.</p>
Ilkka Tengvall<p>Todays excercise was to install <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/AlmaLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AlmaLinux</span></a> on <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> 4 and add <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/MicroShift" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MicroShift</span></a> on it. For some reason I didn't get <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/RHEL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RHEL</span></a> installer to boot, even if there are several blogs how to do it. Just didn't boot.</p><p>But yay, now I have minimalistic <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/kube" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kube</span></a> on it for edge demos!</p>
