keithzgLast dpkg log on the first server was written on the 15th, doesn't look like automatic upgrades were applied anytime since, though since a lot of filesystem corruption seems to have resulted in deletions and reversions since the problem started this isn't a *hard* guarantee. But it does point to me just being a very unlucky #sysadmin in having a part fail *and* an equivalent replacement part waiting fail in the same way.

keithzg
Hmm is there any chance some recent Linux security patches have borked some NVMe block devices? I had a server go down yesterday because suddenly the M.2 NVMe drive in it was running into errors and automatically re-mounting as read-only (oddly in an endless loop), and then I thought "well hey good excuse to take the parts for a fast new Windows machine sitting unbuilt at the office and claim it as one of my servers instead" and so I tried to set that up and somehow, despite running much newer parts that had never been even unpackaged before, the fresh install almost immediately ran into the same problem.

The first one was running #Ubuntu Server 22.04, the second #Debian 12.10. In both cases AMD CPUs, though from over 5 years apart, and in both cases Western Digital SSDs with the same gap. Probably I'm just a very unlucky #sysadmin, but it feels like there could be some shared factor here...
