Saustrup<p>When you work in IT all day, you don't want to come home to shitty digital infrastructure. That's why I prefer cabled connections for everything that <em>should just work</em>, like my <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/TV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TV</span></a>, <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/Soundbar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Soundbar</span></a> and Chromecast with <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/GoogleTV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GoogleTV</span></a>. The latter, unfortunately, doesn't come with an <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/ethernet" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ethernet</span></a> connection and there doesn't seem to be an official adapter readily available in Denmark.</p><p>You'll need an USB-C Ethernet adapter with PD (Power Delivery), meaning you plug the power into the adapter, and plug the adapter into the <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/Chromecast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chromecast</span></a>. There are a few available on the market here, but compatibility was a major concern for me.</p><p>Knowing the thing runs Linux, albeit probably a somewhat conservative build of it, compatibility felt like a fifty-fifty gamble.</p><p>I went for the a "Digitus DN-3027 USB-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter".
