Since I got back into RSS, I’ve been reading a lot more blogs.
They feel authentic, I usually know the author’s bias, and they dont have the same monetization/editorial issues as most press websites.
Democracy needs more indie web. We need to make “how to publish a blog” part of public schools’ curriculum.
@thibaultamartin I sadly still have not found yet a client I am happy using. They feel all so inconsistent :( I kinda like google news design wise. A big image, a header and thats it. Then it opens the main page as a browser. Idk why I cant do this with rss. Maybe after all I kinda want some algorithm that roughly sorts it? Maybe I am too deep in the traditional newspaper lazyness at the morning when I read news. Not sure.
@fnwbr @NetNewsWire sadly not a macos/ios user :) android and linux user :D so its not an option :) thanks anyway for the recommendation!
@mtrnord I’m more of an evening reader myself. I don’t really use RSS to get the news, but to get opinions or in-depth analysis of topics I enjoy reading about.
Subscribing to the blogs I find interesting is part of the fun for me, I take the time to think about what I want to read, but I understand it’s not for everyone.
I use ReadKit which is consistent on macOS and iOS.
@mtrnord I have been running a self-hosted RSS aggregator instance for many years. On my PC and smartphone I read in the browser, alternatively there are also apps that access the aggregator. Various designs and modes can be selected. Perhaps there is something suitable for you. #FreshRSS https://freshrss.org/
@sesom42 @mtrnord @thibaultamartin
I use Read You app for reading my FreshRSS instance on my Android phone. Perfect !

@thibaultamartin Blogs and personal webpages should and will take back over. RSS is fantastic.
@thibaultamartin one of the best things about AI is it forced me to pull all my stuff out of cloud and into a local Nextcloud and the News app rocks. Its like a local hosted Google reader.
@thibaultamartin the 20ties have called and want to make blogs a part of school curriculum...
@blazr you're joking but these days I'm thinking about things we have lost since the 2000's, and I'm starting to cobble some notes together
@thibaultamartin at least at my neighboured university in #bremen they use blogs for the students.
