Is the use of "city" to refer to "societal order" common in English, or is that a thing only in particular corners of academia?
@simulo I only know of "civitas" being used in this meaning.
@nemobis yes, this would be more easy to understand for me. I came across it in "New Spirit of Capitalism" which I read in English, but it was very helpful to see that "city" was translated as "order" (I think) in the German translation.
