The Great Orion Nebula (M42)🌌. The Orion constellation, is one of the brightest and closest star-forming regions to Earth. It spans about 24 light-years across and is approximately 1,344 light-years away. The Nebula is notable for it's vibrant colors and the presence of young stars, making it a key area of study in astrophysics.
I Captured it last Monday just before my surgery, processed with Siril. I removed some Stars on the 2nd picture :). Only 25 stacked exposures at 100s each—
proof that even short sessions can create something magical.

Last Friday i tried to capture the Whirlpool Galaxy M51📸

🌌The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) is a spiral galaxy located about 23 million light-years away in Canes Venatici. It spans approximately 60,000 light-years and features prominent spiral arms with active star formation. M51 is interacting with the smaller galaxy NGC 5195, creating stunning tidal features that enhance its visual appeal.

The Eternal Companion, Once Again (11/24)

My best moonshot so far, in my opinion. Feedback and tips for improvement are welcome. It is damn hard to nail the focus with this lens, also with focus-peaking. There is always some kind of luck involved here. The focus lottery so to say :-)

Last night we were treated to the Waxing Crescent Moon cozying up to the Pleiades star cluster just after sunset.

A low cloud was kind enough to pass in front of the moon when I took this photo, dimming its glow and revealing the line of craters while the unobscured stars were still shining brightly.

(You may need to click to see the full vertical image and the Pleiades)

It’s officially spring! Today’s March equinox marks the end of winter for us in the Northern Hemisphere (and the beginning of fall for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere). Today the Sun will pass directly above the Equator, and we will experience almost equal amounts of day and night. You know what this means! Warm weather, birds chirping, flowers blooming. Comment what you’re looking forward to this spring!
