My second report from #SREcon: Some of the same lessons -- and unsolved problems -- from supporting #machinelearning apps in production carry over to #generativeAI apps, but not all. Attendees discussed the similarities and important differences. #reliabilityengineering #ML #GenAI #LLM #AI #MLOps #LLMOps techtarget.com/searchitoperati

TechTarget · Site Reliability Engineers weigh MLOps vs. LLMOpsBy Beth Pariseau

First dispatch from #SREcon, covering some interesting discussions about how supporting #LLM-based apps in production differs from traditional apps. Features a presentation by Brendan Burns about lessons learned from rolling out #Azure #Copilot.

TechTarget · SREs map uncharted territory with LLMOpsBy Beth Pariseau

Okay, my suitcase is packed, almost ready to leave for #SREcon. Just one little problem: someone knows that Things Are Afoot.

He keeps following me around and crying. He knows what suitcases mean, and he is Not A Fan.

checking out the #SRECon Americas program and omg so much goodness

Technical Debt as Theory Building and Practice - @yvonnezlam
(I have a feeling this is a talk I'll be referencing and recommending for a long while!)
"I will examine the connections between technical debt, housework/carework, and infrastructure in order to talk through strategies for understanding the shape of your technical debt, picking pieces to pay down, and building narratives with conceptual integrity around technical debt."

How’s the App Doing? Bringing Mobile Into Your Reliability Picture
I learned a *bit* about mobile observability when talking with @bidetofevil for Off-Call but am ready for the next level!

OpenTelemetry Semantic Conventions and How to Avoid Broken Observability
tbh I think the semantic conventions are the biggest win and likely most enduring impact of OTel and it's great to see a talk about the benefits AND the bumpy experience of adopting standards that are still evolving.

#SRECon wants a headshot to go with my talk. My usual social media picture is from 2010 or so and has me hiding behind a camera. Which, admittedly, is a common enough sight, but I don't think that's what the conference organizers want to put in their program.

Under normal circumstances, I'd just go to the family photographer for a headshot, but (a) that's me and (b) I'm terrible at self portraits.

Could I get a few opinions on this one? Too grim? Too out-of-focus? Too much cat fur?
