Yes! I’m just learning to make baroque bassoon reeds, so adjusting them in any way is a bit scary. Except changing the shape of the wires - those can be bent back if the adjustment didn’t work.
But I had this reed that was just too heavy to play, so finally I decided that sanding it a bit could not make things any worse. And it worked! Now it’s a nice reed. I’m going to try this with my other unplayably hard reed and see if the effect is reproduceable.
Reed making seemed so scary at first, but apparently my method of ”lets experiment and see what happens” will work here just as well as with cooking, baking and sewing. :D
