“We have no beef with networks like Twitter or Facebook, or with companies like Apple and Google that currently dominate our communal digital space. We just think diversity is about expanding and speaking up—not consolidating and homogenizing.”
Funny, https://woodwind.xyz/ think https://www.rmendes.net/ and https://rmendes.net/ are Two different websites, without the "www" subdomain I have zero subscriptions, with the "www" part I have my usual woodwind subscritions of #indieweb people. not sure if this "bug" is on my side or on woodwind side..any idea ?
Hi, I'm Neil. #introduction
Looking forward to learning from like-minded others and helping to grow this space. #SocialCoop
Hi, I'm just joined social.coop (having been over on mastodon.social for a few months), and intend this to be my main Mastodon instance. I'm keen on the #indieweb movement and co-operative principles (my first job leaving school was working for a co-op!). When I saw that like-minded people were already over here I decided to take the plunge myself, so here I am :) #introduction: https://raretrack.uk/2017/hi-im-just-joined-socialcoop-having-been-over-on-mastodonsocial
Just found out about social.coop via Michel Bauwens in the FB P2P group. This is excellent, it is excatly how we wrestle control back over our (online) lives. Excited to join and support! About myself: I'm a geek and entrepreneur, building #UBOS (http://ubos.net/), a Linux distro optimized for self-hosting and what I call "#Indie IoT" devices (instead of "overlord IoT" which is what everybody is selling). Also involved in #IndieWeb. Looking forward to collaborate!! #introduction
"So long Disqus, hello Webmention"
Nicolas Hoizey, co-founder of Clever Age, writes about Webmentions which allows to have comments from other people on your blog without having them to give their data to a service like Disqus.
Reading on WoodWind.xyz and sharing from it using your own blog: love #indieweb !: https://www.rmendes.net/2017/reading-on-woodwindxyz-and-sharing-from-it-using-your-own
@ntnsndr I use @withKnown to pilot my social media activity from the open-web, see ex : https://www.rmendes.net/2017/choose-your-mastodon-instances-by-language-nsfw-other-classifiers#comments this bookmark is first shared on my site (where i can use tag, longer comment etc..) and then #indieweb POSSEd to twitter & mastodon in this case, I'm really happy about the setup :)
I've got some invite codes for anyone who'd like to try out micro.blog, a new social media site that supports #indieweb principles.: http://stream.boffosocko.com/2017/ive-got-some-invite-codes-for-anyone-whod-like-to
On the same topic I would better recommend a #book #audiobook that someone suggested here, Austerity https://global.oup.com/academic/product/austerity-9780199389445?cc=it&lang=en& and #Platform Capitalism that I discovered thanks to a #indieweb serendipity surfing http://politybooks.com/platform-capitalism/
Since this is way over my head, I figured I can share it at least to help facilitate some discussion:
" #Federation with #IndieWeb
There has been only a small amount of talk about this previously, but I wanted to bring up discussion of Federation with IndieWeb. This includes all the installs of Known, Micro.blog, and a number of other smaller sites (some 2300)."
