Why not fine Equifax? Show more
Why are State AGs suing Equifax over the data breach when existing data privacy laws already can impose fines.
For example the MA data #privacy law (201 CRM 17.00) calls for fines of $5k for every record (SSN) lost for a resident. This could bring in millions in fines. The fines are secured #debt unlike lawsuits that result in unsecured debt; in the event of bankruptcy.
So why not fine #Equifax?
It looks like #Equifax got cracked well before a patch for #freesw
Misplaced blame? #BlameTheRussians like #DNC

Doing it again now
It's almost like giving a ton of personal information to a pair of private corporations and allowing them an effective duopoly in deciding who is and is not allowed to borrow money was a bad idea.
