AdamD<p>Last night, a friend organised a nighttime bike ride on the ice road to the neighbouring village of Dettah. It's about 6.5km across the frozen bay. It was quite slippery on the glare ice, even with studded tires, so we went at a leisurely pace and chatted away. When we got to Dettah, as if on cue, the <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/aurora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aurora</span></a> erupted into a dancing, swirling riot of colour. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen, which I hope comes across in these low res. photos. We stood enrapt in our bike helmets, or lay back on the ice to save our craning necks until it settled down into a placid glow in the distance before biking back to town.<br><a href="https://mountains.social/tags/yellowknife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>yellowknife</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/nwt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nwt</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/northernlights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>northernlights</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/winter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>winter</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://mountains.social/tags/winterbiking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>winterbiking</span></a></p>
