"These features rely on tons of our user-generated data—the fuel of the platform... Crucially to the business, we users perform this crucial labor for free and without any say in the direction of the platform."

And this is why I stopped contributing to #MapyCom (and pretty much all proprietary platforms) and started contributing to #OpenStreetMap and #WikimediaCommons last year.

BIKEPACKING.com · When We Get KomootedFollowing the sale of Komoot to private equity, Josh Meissner explores the broken relationship between corporate capital and our communities...

Now that both #MangroveReviews and #MapComplete support editing and deleting your reviews, I set about making some much-needed improvements.

My review of Agasi now also describes the ambience a little, and ends on a more positive note to accurately reflect my feelings.

My review of Manoj Naan Wālā also got some tweaks.

Both also got some new photographs on #WikimediaCommons and #Panoramax! Check out my recent uploads on Wikimedia Commons

I discovered that there is a slight caveat to how MapComplete handles edits of reviews, but I hope it will be fixed in time.

As always, I rely on the community’s donations to make ends meet. If you like my contributions, support me on Liberapay!

@paulk I see. The best outcome would be that public institutions can incorporate corrections from . This would finally allow us to close the loop from content partnerships, where often most of the metadata cleanup and enrichment happens in Commons because the source systems are too unwieldy.

Still, it sounds like we won't have anything from Italy unless it's first imported to Commons.

Regarding the category tree part: "Women wearing fingernail polish" is a subcategory of "Female people wearing fingernail polish" (same for the "men" counterpart)

English is not my first language but isn't that stance considered transphobic? Is it really the policy on #WikimediaCommons ?

It appears that someone saw a photo of me at WikidataCon 2017* on #WikimediaCommons with my beard clearly visible, and categorized it as "Women wearing fingernail polish", which is a rather interesting take in itself, especially considering the category tree.

So anyway I created commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cat : if you have other enby people to add here, don't hesitate
