Zcash is the cryptocurrency that all the criminals thought that Bitcoin was. Shielded transactions to another shielded wallet are private. All you see on the blockchain is proof that the transaction happened.

Web portals! Circa 2000, you found them everywhere. I'm looking for a modern one.
Or maybe you'd call it a dashboard. I want a visual, drag-and-drop bookmark manager. You know, the sort of thing that lets me cluster my blog links in one section, news sites in another, etc. Maybe with color-coding. Maybe with images or page previews. FOSS preferred but I'd consider anything.

Continuing my survey of current web browsers, I'll note that the Tor Browser is really good at its job of keeping your private web browsing actually private, and there are mitigations available for edge cases like someone being able to tell that you're using Tor (even if they can't tell what you're doing with it).
The cost of that privacy is mostly that it's slow and won't be able to handle some web applications (either because features have been disabled or because the website blocks Tor), so it's inconvenient for everyday browsing, but if you need to hide activity from a stalker, an abuser, a harassment campaign, a government, etc. it's worth learning how to use it.
The WebDX #CommunityGroup at @w3cdevs have reached a milestone in their efforts to catalogue #Web browser baseline features, and that's great!
But I worry that some #developers will look at graphs like this one and think "more features == better". And I'm not sure whether or not that's actually true. From some #DX perspectives (and many #UX perspectives), widespread implementation of a new feature can be a net harm, not good.

Vivaldi 7.2 Released with Speed Improvements + More
A big Vivaldi web browser update is rolling out with a set of appreciable improvements long-time users will like, and would-be users may be tempted to try. Vivaldi 7.2 amps up its address bar logic to proffer more relevant results, faster. Search suggestions and search accuracy have been tweaked so that “finding what you need feels seamless”, according to Vivaldi Technologies’ CEO Jon von Tetzchner. Sticking with the speed theme, Vivaldi 7.2 is said to load pages faster—up to 2x as fast for some—thanks to some nifty optimised connection handling work on the backend that reduces latency on domain lookup.

Mozilla is paving the way for bringing support for Progressive Web Apps back to Firefox. They'll still look and function like browser tabs rather than standalone apps, but they'll show up more like apps in the OS as "taskbar tabs." #Mozilla #Firefox #TaskbarTabs #ProgressiveWebApps #WebApps #WebBrowsers https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2025/03/firefox-nightly-supports-web-apps-taskbar-tabs
A look at forks of Firefox.
"For those who are willing to stay in the Firefox "family" there are a number of good options that have taken vastly different approaches. This includes GNU IceCat, Floorp, LibreWolf, and Zen."
I don't like #Chrome / Chromium browsers... But if Google did sell it off, would that make open-source Chromium-based #webbrowsers a viable alternative to #Firefox?

Kagi is Bringing Orion Web Browser to Linux
Kagi, the company behind a paid, private search engine1 of the same name, has announced it’s bringing its Webkit-based Orion web browser to Linux. In a post on BlueSky, Kagi said: “We’re thrilled to announce that development of the Orion Browser for Linux has officially started!”. Feature-parity with the macOS version is expected by next year (all going well). Orion is said to best Safari, Google Chrome, and Firefox in many areas on macOS: zero-telemetry browser; built-in ad and tracking blocking; lower memory usage; faster page speeds; greater battery efficiency, support for Chrome Extensions and Firefox Add-ons. Whether all of
