In #Munich, the surface metro is called "S"-Bahn and the underground is the "U"-Bahn. There's this elevator on my way to work that has these three buttons: "O", "S" and "U". Which one would you pick to get to the "S"-trains when you're coming from the "U"-trains?
Over and over I've seen tourists with suitcases make the wrong choice in this elevator. It bothered me so much that I've printed a label to fix the #UX of this #usability disaster.
It's been there for 2 weeks now

Just canceled a 7-day free trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Surprisingly, I wasn’t asked why. No exit survey. No quick feedback form.
Missed opportunity to gather insights? Or are cancellations so frequent that Adobe doesn’t bother?

"Users should be involved early in the design process so that changes in the basic concept of the product can still be made, if necessary. While there's a natural tendency to wait for a good working prototype before showing the product to anyone, this is too late for the user to have a significant impact on design. In the absence of working code, you can show test subjects alternate designs on paper or storyboards."

New research shows GPT-4.5 was judged to be human 73% of the time in Turing tests, more often than actual humans. Having designed content for vulnerable users at Cancer Research UK and Police.uk, this has serious implications for my work.
I'd like to recommend @pachli - the #Fediverse (#Mastodon) client.
They seem to fix #UX issues, regularly - it's currently actively maintained, as far as i can tell. (i'm getting my updates via #FDroid)
Also, it's the (continental) European kind of #FLOSS flavour. (It's Swiss-made, afaik - close enough to EU - well, the name has a Swiss origin - that's #EU enough, for my taste, for now)
I think, i've figured out one of the last remaining #UX pet peeves in #KDE #KDEneon.
I have multiple monitors, and pushing the mouse pointer across the boundary felt rather laborious - too much effort, by default.
An #LLM, via ddg.gg (that's #DuckDuckGo) pointed me in the right direction → KDE Settings → search for "edge" → find this, see screenshot → yoink, done.
What's left unsaid when tech leadership says that we need to reskill the workforce, is that is that I like what I do. I chose it for a reason.
And I do not want to use AI to do my job for me, because doing my job is what I love about what I do.

"Build-measure-learn" - the premise of Big Tech development teams - is an ideology of waste. In reality it's "build, build, build" and all the stuff after that is an afterthought.
This week's issue covers UX designers who are finding ways to start with "learn" instead of starting with waste.
