#LibrePCB has taken the first step in its UI overhaul by replacing the Qt-based Control Panel with one built using Slint
More to come as they integrate Slint further
#LibrePCB 1.3.0 released with an interactive HTML BOM export, KiCad v9 compatibility, various fixes and initial use of #Rust. Details here: https://librepcb.org/blog/2025-03-24_release_1.3.0/
And yesterday I've ordered by very first PCB!
a trivial one that I could have easily done with wires on perfboard (actually, a variation of one I've done a few times on perfboard), if I had not been out of the right size of perfboard and not wanting to bother with cutting a bigger one down to size :D
but I have wanted to try my hand at that for some time, but was somewhat intimidated by the whole thing, and as usual doing it in anger is good at overcoming intimidation :D
anyway, the point of this post is to say thank you to #librePCB for making the whole process quite smooth and to @federico3 for maintaining it in debian :D
It is possible to order #PCB with only one click from #LibrePCB interface. So far only AISLER was supported (great for simple design) but there's now a partnership with PCBWay too (more suitable for complex design). With every order made through the interface, LibrePCB receives a donation from chosen supplier \o/ https://librepcb.org/blog/2022-09-08_partnership_with_pcbway/ #maker
The board I designed using #LibrePCB is finally on my workbench, it was produced and assembled by PCBWay. This is an expansion card for any SBC with a RPi-compatible GPIO header. It can multiplexe USB 2.0, HDMI 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet signals, and it has a couple of relais to switch power/pin state. We are using this kind of hardware to validate SBCs using other SBCs
After a whole year of development, LibrePCB 0.1.6 has been released; it contains a lot of useful improvements!
LibrePCB 0.1.5 released; with several long awaited new features in the library-, schematic- and board editors.
