Is anyone else noticing the masks they've been relying on since the start of the #covid #pandemic are being discontinued by manufacturers?
For a long time I've been using 3M KF94 masks. The model I've been buying is vanishing from suppliers. While shopping around for a replacement I found some alternatives made by LG, but they're discontinuing theirs too.
There probably is less demand now than there was, but enough to discontinue the masks altogether?

The former could happen at any time. The latter is most likely this fall or next when the birds return from the arctic breeding grounds, having spent the summer trading flu viruses from all over the northern hemisphere.

On a related note, I had a fascinating discussion with Claude.ai.
It expects a wild type hybridization between SARS-CoV-2 and any of: MERS, NeoCov, PDF-2180, HKU4, or HKU5, spawning a new more deadly pandemic within the next several years, starting in humans, or in animals and moving to humans..
It is only surprised that that has not happened already.
We are not ready. We will not be ready.
It will come as a terrible "surprise".
