The complete text of the statement:

"CISA is the primary sponsor for the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure (CVE) program, which is used by government and industry alike to disclose, catalog, and share information on technology vulnerabilities that can put the nation's critical infrastructure at risk. Although CISA's contract with the MITRE Corporation will lapse after April 16, we are urgently working to mitigate impact and to maintain CVE services on which global stakeholders rely."

A series of posts by Timothy Snyder on BlueSky on April 15, 2025:

1/4. On the White House's theory, if they
abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get
to international waters, shoot you in the
head, and drop your corpse into the ocean,
that is legal, because it is the conduct of
foreign affairs.

2/4. The entire practice of the Holocaust
of the Jews involved zones of
statelessness. It is easier to move people
away from law than it is to remove law
from people. Almost all of the killing
took place in artificially created stateless
zones.

3/4. If we accept the idea that moving a
person from one place to another undoes
rights and disempowers the judiciary, we
are endorsing the basic Nazism practice
that enabled the killing of millions.

4/4. My book "Black Earth" was all about
this. I will try to write a summary tomorrow.

@rbreich nearly the whole word 'demagoguery' was cut off in the image.

#ALT4you pen and water ink sketch drawing of precarious Roman pillars, and a nearly toppling arch beam with the words 'American Dem..' carved into it, and the rest of the word cut off. Under the beam an unsuspecting person looks towards us as things come crashing down.

Screenshot of the first paragraphs of the NYT article (nytimes.com/2025/04/13/us/poli):

» Last week, Elon Musk indicated for the first time that his Department of Government Efficiency was falling short of its goal.

He previously said his powerful budget-cutting team could reduce the next fiscal year’s federal budget by $1 trillion, and do it by Sept. 30, the end of the current fiscal year. Instead, in a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Mr. Musk said that he anticipated the group would save about $150 billion, 85 percent less than its objective.

Even that figure may be too high, according to a New York Times analysis of DOGE’s claims.

That’s because, when Mr. Musk’s group tallies up its savings so far, it inflates its progress by including billion-dollar errors, by counting spending that will not happen in the next fiscal year — and by making guesses about spending that might not happen at all.

One of the group’s largest claims, in fact, involves canceling a contract that did not exist. Although the government says it had merely asked for proposals in that case, and [...] «

Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has produced an accounting of impressive-sounding budget cuts using inflated and speculative figures, even claiming credit for canceling a contract that did not exist.

“Traffic Noise Provokes 'Road Rage' In Male Galápagos Warblers -
Yellow warblers near busy roads become increasingly aggressive when traffic drowns out their territorial songs, and noise pollution could trigger fights.”

@MostlyHarmless #Alt4You A paper form devised by a parent-teacher association. This one is an "alternative fundraiser" form. The recipient is given the opportunity to pledge varying amounts of cash to opt out of doing any of the insipid activities that the PTA would ordinarily use to hold their kids hostage to get cash. No bake sales. No walk-a-thons. No fundraiser catalogs. It is begging, pure and proper, refreshing in its honesty.
