On many Japanese toilets, the hand wash sink is attached so that you can wash your hands and reuse the water for the next flush. Japan saves millions of liters of water every year doing this.
In France, we save millions of liters of water by not washing hands after going to the toilets 😂

And the water runs mandatory, so I think that this makes more people wash their hands, who wouldn't otherwise.
