On many Japanese toilets, the hand wash sink is attached so that you can wash your hands and reuse the water for the next flush. Japan saves millions of liters of water every year doing this.

@redfrog
In France, we save millions of liters of water by not washing hands after going to the toilets 😂

@redfrog
Strange Japanese toilets with paper. Usually they don't use that but (hot) water streams.

Are you sure this is in Japan?

@Beurt @redfrog A friend of mine has installed one in her flat, she saw this in India

@numahell @Beurt @redfrog

I saw this in a guest house in France.

One day I will install it at home.

@Beurt @redfrog it's a generic photo, I don't think this particular toilet is in Japan.

@redfrog
That's a myth. Many toilets in Japan are not fitted with water washing.

@redfrog
And the water runs mandatory, so I think that this makes more people wash their hands, who wouldn't otherwise.

@redfrog @declan I have a (Swedish) friend here in Australia who has something similar. I was totally blown away when I saw (used) it.

@solar10 @redfrog Less than it takes to make the paper it saves I think. But I don't know for sure

@solar10 Not much actually. During use the amount of water used this way is low, and that picture an overdramatization.
@redfrog tu as vraiment vu ça souvent au Japon ?
