The first shots fired in the class war came out of a 3d-printed youtube-howto gun. Because a very smart young man ready to reap the rewards of his combinatsion of privilege and hard work, until he literally broke his back. But it was the complete and deliberate failure of the healthcare industry in the USA which crushed him. The moment he turned 26 and dropped off his parent's healthcare plan. Future Gone. Yeah, he had lame politics. But he wasn't dumb. Kind of a edgy radical centrist, like the average x.com user. He came from a private school and did computer science. So much of early politics is shaped by our environment. And maybe it was precisely because of his intimate understanding of well-heeled capitalism, he knew who to blame and where to find him. Intensity and purpose, ambition and diligence, darkened because society failed him in the exact way that it was designed to fail. Powerful words, and they apply equally to the millions of people who have been deliberately killed and disabled and impoverished by healthcare execs

@pluralistic Note for everyone that public libraries are still a thing. Mine has copies of both the ebook and audiobook (read by Wil Wheaton!). I listened to it on the Libby app the day the story came out.
