A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of cheap books. 🧐
I can't tell whether UK publishers were serious, but the reality of #copyright post #Brexit is duller.
Although Genius lost their #copyright lawsuit https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20200811/17240345095/judge-tosses-out-genius-laughable-lawsuit-against-google-over-licensed-lyric-copying.shtml , I suspect a crackdown on #lyrics databases is still ongoing.
#FoodWaste in retail is largely a choice nowadays: automation allows "spoilage reductions of 10-40 %"; more waste can be avoided by accepting some empty shelves for ultra-fresh food.

Reuters: «The scientists have now submitted the fresh findings [...] to the website #bioRxiv, a free online archive of unpublished clinical studies, ahead of peer review.»
What's this, a pre- #preprint by means of press release? Link or it didn't happen!
Ok, «it's not just words, it's not a speech; it's a commitment of the entire Governing Council with delivery time, deliverables and pursuit of objectives [...] we take that very seriously – and action has already started.»
#ECB will use «climate factors in its monetary policy assessments [and] adapt [...] disclosures, risk assessment, corporate sector asset purchases and the collateral framework.»

I'm happy #JusticeBreyer was able to write the majority's opinion and put all that energy into good use.
A rare bit of good news for the open web: Google is ending its experiment to show only domain names instead of full URLs in Chrome https://therecord.media/google-abandons-experiment-to-show-simplified-domain-urls-in-chrome/
NYT shocked that moving troops out of a country after 20 years might imply actually stopping to wage war on the country.
This is the first #library in my series which doesn't have it's own dedicated building. It was not always so. The history of the library goes back to 1954 when it was by the name #Toukola library. With the end of the factories in the area, the library was finally decommissioned in 2002.
The #Arabianranta area, which is a part of Toukola, was built between 2000 and 2015. With a final population of 7,500, library services were again needed, and Toukola library was reborn as the Arabianranta library in the iconic Arabia shopping center, which was built in a renovated factory building.
It's great that a new area gets its own library and this makes me wonder why #Kalasatama, with an estimated 30,000 people living here once it's complete, doesn't have plans to have a local library. This is a huge mistake in my opinion. #Libraries offer information, digital services and a place to spend time at for free for anyone, irregardless of wealth or status. And having these services locally is extremely important, just like having local grocery shops is important.
What did I get?
Camilla Mickwitz - Mimosan Syntymäyö. A great classic storybook of a little witch called Mimosa and her birthday party. Also made as a TV animation.
RIP #Hakaniemenranta trees.
