#wordweavers #writingCommunity #writing #AmWriting #mastoart 01/09 Introduce your antagonist with as much sympathy as possible.
Lady d’Arcy : “I have understand very young that this world is rotten. It’s not my job to fix it, I just want to take the most of what it can give to me, for my own advantage and pleasure.
I am not a woman who will stay in the shadows of her man, even if I can’t complain about James: he gives me the money and the access to the elite, and recognise I am the brain.”
02/09 What could you change about your world to make it better for most people?
Removing portals to the daemons universe
03/09 MC POV: You realize that you are a book character.
What do you do?
I think I will be thankful for the arc my author has written to me: while I pass through very hard steps, in the end, my situation is far better than at the beginning of the story
04/09 Does your antagonist have a chance to become a better person?
In her opinion, Lady d’Arcy is a good as possible. She wouldn’t change anything if she had the opportunity to restart.
05/09 How detailed are you when you describe your characters' clothes / looks?
I am extremely picky when it comes to details such as clothing. Even if in the end I can take some liberties because my story does not take place in our world, I like to draw something plausible.
06/09 When is a detailed description necessary and when is it better to skip?
It’s better to skip when the reader’s imagination will do better than everything you can write (or draw).
The best example is the final scene of Se7en. Or the alien (in Alien) or the shark in Jaws.
In my case, I try to not show the daemons and the possession.
07/09 Why did your villain become a villain?
Because it was the only way to have a rich and full life: young d’Arcy understood very soon that, as the woman, she will have a very constrained life if she didn’t break many rules of the society, which led her to be viewed as a villainess. And because she enjoys her life, she goes further and further.
08/09. What do you pay attention to when describing your characters' surroundings?
I can copy what I wrote for clothing : “I am extremely picky when it comes to details such as clothing. Even if in the end I can take some liberties because my story does not take place in our world, I like to draw something plausible.”
09/09.MC POV: What do you hate the most about the author?
He has not enough time for working on me and the story !
10/09. Is writing dialogue easy for you? Why / why not?
No, and, as a comic artist, there’s another problem: text bubbles placement, which is clearly one of my weaknesses.
11/09. What would you do if you met your antagonist?
If I still have the writer superpower, I would told her first and enjoy the situation of seeing her unable to hit me.
Otherwise, I would just hide and try my best to fall into her webs, since I would have hard times if so.

12/09 Side character POV: What do you find difficult to say to other people?
As a leonine living very far from the rest of my people, I feel often lonely and uprooted. It’s difficult to talk about everything that is specific of being a leonine with the others, even Esther.
13/09 What animal would you like as a muse and why?
Cheetah, as Erié’s features are based on cheetahs’ ones: she’s slim and swift, and her facial marks remember also the feline
14/09 Does your antagonist have any likable or redeemable qualities?
She’s a strong and independent woman. She also brought Erie out of her reserve and of the deep misery she was experienced there
15/09 Is vour MC neat or messy?
Esther has been raised to be the perfect lady and the perfect wife. She’s upper neat (and now she can count on Érié to help her keeping everything in place and clean)
16/09 How are people like your antagonist viewed in your world?
They are the leaders of the world, so most of the common people like and hate at the same time, for the way they run the world, for their own interests only.
17/09 Do you mention makeup, hair and beard styles in your work?
Yes as it is something very important for Esther. A lady like her is all about appearance, looking good but not too much, choosing her clothes and makeup carefully.
And now that she’s ill, it’s even more important to appear pretty and not let anyone discover her bad shape.
18/09 Do your characters worry about their health?
It’s literally the plot of the story !
19/09 Side character POV: Have you ever been treated unfairly?
Erie: “Yes, all my life until I met my mistress Esther!
Born in a reserve where the only occupations were boredom, random beatings and alcoholism.
Then, I felt in the hands of Lady d’Arcy. She need maiden for her new school but didn’t have money for hire humans, because she had been exiled, she decided to use leonines.” 1/2
“For me it replaced being beaten for no reason by being beaten to please her sadistic tendencies. But at least I fell useful as a maid.
Finally I discovered the true goal of the school and I decided to save Esther from her fate. In exchange I gain a better mistress.” 2/2
20/09 How charismatic are your characters?
I think that both Esther and Erie are quite charismatic for the readers. They are both beautiful but while they may appear frail at first sight, they have lots of resources to cope with the events they have to deal with. It makes them more interesting than an invincible superhero.
21/09 MC POV: What one thing would you change about your best friend?
Esther : “Erie is who is looking the most as a friend to me. What would I change to her ? Nothing, she has risked her life and quit everything to follow me, I can’t ask for more.” #wordweavers #writingCommunity #writing #AmWriting #mastoart #fediart
22/09 Do you purposely use symbolism in your story?
Yes, one example is Erie’s background: her people have the fate as the American natives, forced to give up their lands, traditions and beliefs. In search of a better life, Erie will accept to follow Lady d’Arcy to become one of her maiden. Not ideal but better, and the first step to meet Esther.
23/09 What is your favorite drink while writing?
I work often early in the morning, so coffee and bread with salted butter (veeeerrryy breton)
24/09 Any unusual animals mentioned in your story?
In my universe, the nature of leonines is something highly debated. Most people sees leonines at best as subhuman wildlings, if not animals. Esther is obviously not ok with this position. This is shown by unhealthy Dr Moreau’s interest for Erié.
25/09 Your antagonist gives a spontaneous speech. What is it about?
Lady d’Arcy would explain how sweet it is to be twisted and perverted like her. No need to be perfect, no need respect the rules, just enjoy your own lust!
26/09 Is your antagonist or protagonist more fashionable?
They are equally very fashionable, knowing both how to highlight their features
27/09 Do any children under two or older people factor into your story?
No young child, but some oldies: Technically Lady d’Arcy and Sir James are in their eighties (but have been rejuvenated). Esther‘s husband is also in his eighty.
28/09 Side character POV: Describe the MC's sense of humor.
Erie : ”Life has prevented my mistress to develop a great sense of humour. That’s not something that was excepted for a lady like her. And now that she’s so ill… how could she be happy enough to joke?”
29/09 Who in your story gives the most pep talks?
It’s balanced:
- Erie bc of her leonine design, and also the maid stuff
- Esther gets some attention because people (mostly dark skinned women) likes to have an heroine like them
