So much of the dysfunctions I saw in this World come from that "myth of growth" being so pervasive even in the most thoughtful minds.
When something is working well, gets attention & credit, everyone usually ask themselves how to make it *bigger* and this is when things start to work not so well anymore.. (more inertia, need for communication, more opinions to compose with etc.)
Instead of growth, let's value emulation, inspiration, replication, distribution <3
@jz
The title "The Limits to Growth" comes to mind, too.
It's not only "just" to make it bigger, it's also greed and selfishness when there is money at play ; in capitalist systems, bigger means more money for those at the top. I think it's a big part of the flaw ; owners keep ownership of the whole thing, even when it grows due to the work of many.
Ants, not whales.
Twitter should have learned from birds. They're everywhere, they're very successful overall, have great dimorphism of species, and can have flocks or be by themselves.
But, no, they went whale.
Mastodon is like ants, or at least birds or mice maybe.
@sydneyfalk @jz cockroaches :'D
@jz well said. My thoughts exactly!
@jz Also, the notion that there is no viable alternative.
