Saw a completely naked cyclist in #Brussels. Just one guy, not that group that does an annual demonstration (which is probably registered & exempt from some laws). So the question is, is that legal in #Belgium? #askFedi

Europeans: what does the €6k limit refer to with respect to /basic/ EU bank accounts? In , basic bank accounts have some kind of 6k limit and it’s unclear if that’s a transaction limit or a max account balance limit.

I saw a worker in on Saturday fully uniformed and apparently delivering mail. I thought there was no mail delivery on Saturday. I don’t recall getting mail on a saturday.

Suppose an iOS device grabs all the MAC addresses of all devices in range non-stop and sends those MACs to Apple’s server along with the GPS coordinates. And suppose the owner of that device walks around in public in bars and shops in Europe while this is going on without telling people in the room. Is this a breach? If yes, is in breach or the phone’s owner?

🇬🇧 The Belgian government refused to do it, so I had the impact of the proposed next-gen #DataRetention law mapped myself. The whole territory is covered, this 'targeting' is a hoax - it's blanket surveillance in disguise.

A telemarketer cold-called my relatively new Belgian mobile phone out of the blue. Is that legal?

The only way this makes sense is maybe the manufacturers deliberately want colors to slightly change so that when you break a tile 5 yrs later or do a partial demolition, you can’t get a match and so you have to retile the whole room. That’s the only reason I can think of.

A couple years ago I was in a smaller mom-pop run tile shop. I said I needed just 1 big tile for small project. The saleswoman (who was part owner) said I’ll just give you one. She gave me a 60×60cm²×10mm tile b/c it too was “fin de serie”. It was such neutral solid gray that I can’t distinguish it from the gray tiles I see today.

I said to the guy I would have taken them. He said if I came before they were smashed, his boss would have expected him to sell them to me. I suppose this is the same reason destroys products that no longer fit in the warehouse: they’re afraid if people can take the unsellable products at no cost, they will lose sales on the products that can be sold.

I arrived at a tile shop in Brussels just after they smashed a bunch of tiles. These were sample tiles that had never been installed. They were just spot-glued in the 4 corners. Why? Because tiles go out of style… “fin de serie” (end of series) they call it. I don’t get it. Tiles are so neutral & boring, how can anyone even know whether they are out of style? What a waste.

Suppose Bob’s in Europe & wants to Alice, but Bob does not consent to his email being seen by a suveillance advertizer. How might Bob verify before sending the email whether a surveillance advertizer is in the loop? MX lookups don’t always work. E.g. if the MX server is mail.alice_corp.com, is there any way to know if that server contacts Google, for example?

It's the #Brussels #jazz weekend. The entire weekend is dedicated to the memory of Toots (sic) Thielemans, the great Belgian harmonica player. Philip Catherine opened his set in the Grand Place yesterday evening with a fabulous Autumn Leaves. We drank beer and applauded.
