Hello #photographers,
For some time I've been working on a web app that allows you to follow photographers and their work through the #rss feeds of their sites, and other #photos platforms or social networks.
It's basically an rss reader, but designed for images.
I'm looking for first users who are interested in the concept and would like to try it out. If you're one of them and have Rss feeds to follow, contact me right here, I'm opening soon!
The idea is to have a place like Instagram or Pixelfed, but where you can follow people who don't have an account there, thanks to Rss feeds.
All photos are presented with their description and a link to the original site/image.
So far, I've tested it successfully with Flickr, pixelfed, mastodon (it only displays images), Glass and websites. Other platforms should work too, as long as the photographers' profiles have a Rss or atom feed.
Oh yes, and of course the app is open-source (code on Codeberg) and connection to the #fediverse is planned :)
and last but not least, I forgot (and got a slap on the wrist with good reason) the photos visible on the captures are by :
- Murray Livingston @murraylivingston (Landscapes in Scotland)
- Anton Gorlin @antongorlin (Coastal landscapes in Australia)
- Pierre Bykol https://www.flickr.com/photos/46172627@N03/ (Portraits)
- chris.zielecki @chris.zielecki (Landscapes and portraits)
- Analogas Pilsetas @apilsetas (Curated photography)
and all come from their respective RSS feeds.
Sounds fabulous. I love the idea of RSS based browsing. Would love to try it out, and see how my own RSS feed fills out.
@ewen Hi, great, I'll let you know once I open first registrations :)
To get your feed working it needs an enclosure entry in each item :

I'll look at testing my existing feed when I can access the website. Thanks!
@atlza Wouldn’t mind giving it a go. Site has no feed, but there’s Flickr/Instagram, and this account, where a lot of photos show up.
@maique Thanks !
I'll let you know when I launch the invitations :)
@atlza That looks amazing!
@atlza I'm really curious and interested about it!
@atlza This looks interesting! Do you think it could also work for web comics and the like (ordering requirement might be different)
@esg Thanks for you interest.
I have no idea I didn't know people were using RSS for reading comics.
The best way to know : give it a try when possible ;)
@atlza brilliant idea, count me in if possible. My photo diary has between 12-18K unique visitors per month and over 80% of the traffic is coming from rss readers. It would be great to check how it all will work out.
Thanks
@notimefortv Hi, noted. I'll send next week the first invitations. As I have many requests, it could take a few days before everybody get one. But sure, you'll receive one, thanks for your interest.
@atlza Thank you good sir
@atlza this looks amazing! I would love to play with it!
@liaizon Hi !Glad you like the idea :)
