Disclaimer: I am not dumb. I know it is not the same thing, and I have some answers to the previous questions. I’m mostly curious what other approaches exist to them.

I’ve seen #facebook and #instagram users complain about this (see pic), so here’s an #ethics question to all my fellow #decentralisation and #federation advocates: why is this bad and how is it not the same thing as us pushing e.g. @matrix so people can talk to each other from accounts on distinct services?
