@Khrys and not even a thing, which makes those claiming to be one even sillier
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/is-the-alpha-wolf-idea-a-myth/
@robincapper @Khrys
Another proof that wolves are nicer than people
@Khrys Same when they call people, "beta males"... like huh, uh makes sense! They're far more stable individuals. Got our Release Candidate males coming up.
@Khrys I want to be a male 4.7, stable with a lot of improved features.
@brice So what would be these improved features ?
@Khrys accessibility and improved empathy for a better UX
@Khrys (n'empêche ça mériterait de filer la métaphore un peu plus loin)
@Khrys agreed, management wants to push development versions on to the user so they can fix things in production...
@Khrys It has been YEARS since I've heard anyone refer to themselves that way.
@Khrys alpha male = toxic masculinity
@Khrys
Well done! I need this on a shirt too!
@Khrys have we tried turning them off and then turning them back on again?
@kphotoscape Yeah maybe we should.
@kphotoscape @Khrys Could solve a lot more problems faster if they were just left turned off...
@Khrys as a beta, more of us should be betas. It's great
@Khrys Also if you are feeling down because you are buggy, don't worry. You're not an alpha, you're just bleeding edge.
@Khrys Saaaaaame
@Khrys More like broken males.
@Khrys @adrianmorales oh awesome! Nice try. This is prly one of the most telling attacks. I didn't. This topic was started by various people with me and I only responded in their line of conversation. At best you may have heard me using it in ref to such conversations.
I know this so certainly, because it's a way of thinking I do not subscribe to at all. Such as with other things I'm attacked on.
Also notice how 'alpha', 'beta' etc are used for many things so are easily taken out of context.
@Khrys @adrianmorales similarly, I made refs to 'sigma' in the same line of conversation started by someone else. I bet that one's less easy to misrepresent.
@Khrys so this means that being an alpha male as an adolescent is somewhat forgivable, but if a fully grown man is you can consider him an abandoned project?
@Khrys LTS male: feature complete, long-term support release, security patches sometimes necessary but otherwise stable
Poorly supported financially. Difficult user experience. Low adoption rate.
@Khrys also, I think we have a lot of enshittification of these unstable and useless Alpha Males going on.
I still refer to sigma males as Smegma males.
@Khrys Or in the context of wolves, where they only exist when you artificially throw random wolves together in captivity.
They’re like self-caging wolves
@Khrys
Damn, never knew how alpha I was.
@Khrys the rest of us are golden masters :P
@Khrys LOL, my brain just instantly translates to abusive jerk.
