You want to simultaneously juice Canadian tech and cripple American tech? Offer expedited citizenship for LGBTQ+ Americans
Trust me it'll work
Actually, already done.
What you need to do is find a job offer, and ask them to submit a request to the province.
It's like the states get to put a priority stamp on job classes they need, and if you already have a job offer it is just about a rubber-stamp to get the nomination:
@Amgine @cube_drone trying to work that exact channel currently...
The finding of a job offer has been the difficult part
Fun little side note: American citizens can come visit for 6 months, no questions asked. You might go hiking in BC, cycle coast to coast on the Trans Canada Trail, or pound the pavement looking for a job f2f.
You will probably need to go back to the USA to file your application/paperwork.(preferred, but there are exceptions.)
It will give you an introduction, too.
But the market here is like the market there; tough at the moment. Though not competing with ex-gov.
@allyhealer @Amgine @cube_drone If there are no jobs that need to be filled, then why offer citizenship that would give resources to folk who haven't paid into them? And why immediate citizenship rather than work visas that would get someone into the country? There is an immigration pathway to LGBTQI+ refugees. Canada is part of the digital nomads thing, so folk can come and work remotely for a time without a work permit.
@CStamp @allyhealer @cube_drone
Oh! I was not aware of either of the LGBTQI+ refugee path, nor the digital nomads route.
They both sound cool!
